As I said to my son this morning, if you are getting GCSE results today I'm proud that you managed to sit the exams. Whatever grade you get, I'm proud. And if you didn't manage, that's OK too. There will be more opportunities.

Based on the evidence, I admire the decision to try to support the people of Birmingham without proper funding. And the commitment of leaders such as @CllrJohnCotton to stay and improve rather than just give up what I imagine at times must feel like an impossible task.

Note migrants. All migrants, not just asylum seekers. Those who work and pay taxes and still have to pay an unreasonable NHS surcharge. Those who are undocumented and have seen their chances to regularise almost disappear. Those who don't even know they might be undocumented.
