The first class of fellows I worked with for all three of fellowship graduated last week.🥹 I’ve learned so much about myself as an oncologist, mentor, & teacher through working with each of these talented physicians. I can’t wait to see the amazing things they do! @UIowaCancer

The side effects may look different than side effects from chemotherapy or immunotherapy, but they are just as real. And for some, those effects persist despite maximizing supportive care strategies. Normalize letting no additional treatment be a form of treatment. #bcsm.

A patient shouldn’t need a second opinion to get “permission” to stop a treatment that is stripping them of their identity and the person they are. This isn’t “dramatic” or an “exaggeration” or any of the other words often used to describe symptoms on endocrine therapy. #bcsm.

“In one more year, I may be alive without breast cancer, but who I am will be gone.”. Let’s normalize having a discussion about stopping curative intent treatment if the side effects of treatment outweigh the benefits to the PATIENT, not the provider.

Couldn’t be more proud of #ASCOGI25 Featured Voice @UGrewalMD. He’s an excellent clinician, a gifted researcher, and even better than all of that - a wonderful person. It’s been an honor to watch him grow at @UIowaCancer. You’re lucky to have him join your team, @WinshipAtEmory!.

Only after my training did I fully appreciate all the people who took time to teach me. I didn't realize they had emails to send, notes to write, research papers to submit, & patients waiting in the clinic. Instead, they took time to teach. What a gift.

I’ve missed birthdays, weddings, funerals, simple moments & big ones, all on the quest to becoming a doctor -all to help patients. It’s so sad that many tweets on this app are supportive & excited about the @NIH hold when it could significantly impact our ability to help patients.

Just submitted a 30 page manuscript (ie hours and hours of my life) on a project I dreamed about in the office of my mentor in November 2019. Research happens slowly & then all at once. Accepted or rejected, I just feel proud to have seen this one through. #MedTwitter #bcsm.

New parenting high: watching videos of @JaredGoff16 chants and convincing our toddler to eat his lunch because “Jared Goff always eats his lunch.” Are we now chanting Ja-red Goff with each bite?! Yes, yes we are 😂 Proud of this team, let’s go @Lions! #Lions #OnePride

As a kid who got all of her Christmas presents from @RushMedical one year, I urge my colleagues to remember that a patient who wants to get home for the holidays isn’t “difficult” or “annoying.” They have loved ones waiting. & their life (not diagnosis) matters too.🤍 #MedTwitter.
