Fantastic to see Paul McCartney in Liverpool today for the LIPA graduation ceremony! It's always such a joy to see the man who has given us all that incredible, joyful music over the years.

People often seem to forget that Don't Bother Me was in A Hard Day's Night. It wasn't quite all Lennon/McCartney songs in the movie. A great George track.

Just heard my son (22) playing Now & Then upstairs, so I sat at the bottom of the stairs to listen. Realised I was sitting on the stairs like this that morning in December 1980 when I heard the terrible news. Now here's John's voice again loud & clear. Emotional.

Peter Jackson explains his approach to the Now And Then video.
It's true that the Beatles did everything with humour and didn't take themselves too seriously.

Maybe I'm Amazed. A classic. That voice. The soulful arrangement. The piano playing. The guitar solo. Should have been a number 1 single.
I think this might be the best solo track by any of the Fab Four.

"I also cleared up the myth. I said to Sean, you've got that cassette, can you just see if it's got written on it "For Paul" on the label? He said 'No, it's not'".

Margaret Ashworth made reel to reel recordings connected directly to her radio in excellent quality of many Pop Go The Beatles shows. Her tapes provided many of the tracks on the Live at the BBC albums. Her role deserves to be more widely known.

I'm very impressed with this book on the A Hard Day's Night film. Beautiful photos printed on high quality paper and an essay by Mark Lewisohn. Also enjoyed listening to this illuminating talk by Mark:
Not seen these before. Photos from the final

recording session, 1st April 1970, for the orchestral overdubs onto the Let It Be album. Ringo was the only Beatle present.

George Harrison music is now being used to sell mobile phones. "It's in the Beatles' interest not to have our records touted about on TV commercials, otherwise all the songs we made could be advertising everything from hot dogs to ladies' brassieres" GH

book from Peter Brown on 11th April. Seems to be transcripts of interviews conducted for The Love You Make, much of it previously unpublished. Hopefully more Neil Aspinall too
Just watched the Magical Mystery Tour dvd again and it's massively entertaining. I know it wasn't what viewers were expecting in 1967, but it's actually really tightly edited. The music is phenomenal in 5.1. It's just surreal, that's all. Liked the Walrus sequence best.

What a lovely piece of writing!
I was fortunate enough to see Paul outside his London office in 2005. He was just as fantastic as you would imagine and he kindly posed for a photo with my kids. I have never been so excited!
What a great voice Denny had. Always loved Picasso's Last Words and Richard Cory from the '76 tour. I think Denny's version is even better than Paul Simon's.

As a vegetarian of 36 years I have ironically found the recent rise in veganism a problem because vegetarian products have been removed from menus and supermarkets and replaced with inferior vegan foodstuffs. I am, however, pleased that fewer people are eating meat.
It's a shame the Wings Glasgow 1979 gig has never been officially released in its entirety as it's absolutely outstanding. Come on MPL and
@PaulMcCartney
It's a great set list and brilliant performance.
"John Lennon is an amazing person because he is brilliant. John Lennon is a saint & he's heavy duty & he's great and I love him but at the same time he's such a bastard, but that's the great thing about him you see."
Interesting interview with George 1974.
@EricIdle
Personally, I think you can't beat a delicious nut roast for Christmas dinner. It's what our family has had for the past 34 years, with all the veg. Just like Macca.
One aspect I really appreciated about the new Let It Be was getting to see the film in widescreen and seeing things at the edge of the picture that were cut off in 4:3.
One of the best things about restored Let It Be are these types of shots where I can see more of Ringo at his kit. Watch Paul nod to him, indicating where to come in. Anytime I get to see more group dynamic is precious and amazing.

A fun moment that doesn't appear in the Get Back tv series but a significant one. They never took it too seriously!

"Going Home": a very entertaining documentary showing Ringo visiting old haunts around Liverpool and sharing his memories, interspersed with extracts from his 1992 Liverpool Empire show. Made by Disney. Why isn't this on Disney plus?

fans.
The "Beatles" / Doctor Who crossover is really much more about the villain of the episode. The Beatles hardly appear at all and when they do they don't perform any of their usual songs. A bit of a missed opportunity, in my opinion.
Is this the greatest-ever renaissance for an overlooked album?
From downbeat budget label stigma when I was a kid to lavish, deluxe beautiful box set triumph today!
Delighted that Mind Games is finally getting the love and appreciation it deserves!

Finished this absolutely outstanding volume about the early years of Macca's solo career. It's by far the best book I've ever read about post-Beatles Paul McCartney, packed full of new information and research. A triumph!
@McCARTNEYLEGACY
The Beatles Book was so important to fans, even in the Eighties and Nineties. I'd await each new issue with anticipation, keen to get the latest news, read the articles and study the photographs. Still have them all!
August 1st 1963, the very first edition of Beatles Monthly was published. The fan zine would continue until 1969, following the breakup of the Fab Four, with 77 total editions and a peak circulation of more than 350,000 copies per month.
In the new, polished version of Let It Be the quality of the sound is a revelation. Harsh mono audio from Twickenham has been smoothed over and demixed. The dialogue is much clearer and snatches of conversation that were just not there in the original audio can now be heard.
Inspired by seeing the entire set at the Mark Lewisohn and Nothing Is Real event, here are some of Robert Freeman's photographs for the A Hard Day's Night album cover.

Fantastic that the Beatles are at number 1 again on

I think people will be pleasantly surprised when they finally get to watch the restored Let It Be. Only the first 20 minutes are from Twickenham and then there is plenty of fun footage of the Beatles jamming at Apple, the impressive studio performance on the final day & the roof.
Just watched Magical Mystery Tour again. It's fabulous viewing. Love it!
My son liked how it carried on the Beatles' own brand of British psychedelia, pairing the mundane with the bizarre.
