R is for Rainbow! 🌈 Rainbow flags have been waving in honor of the LGBTQIA+ community since 1978. These symbols continue to evolve and take new forms, like the 2018 Progress Pride Flag by Daniel Quasar. Together, let's learn what each of these colors represent!

Caroll Spinney, the legendary puppeteer behind beloved Sesame Street characters Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch, died today, December 8th 2019, at age 85 at his home in Connecticut, after living with Dystonia for some time.
Sending hugs, love, and safe wishes to all our friends on the West Coast who have been affected by the wildfires. Your friends on Sesame Street are here for you. ♥️
Many of our friends are being affected by the smoke and air quality issues caused by wildfires in Canada. This can be scary for children, and they may have questions or big feelings about what is happening. (1/2)
Your friends on Sesame Street will always be here when you need them. Visit the neighborhood any day of the week with full episodes on our YouTube channel:
Wow! Elmo is glad he asked! Elmo learned that it is important to ask a friend how they are doing. Elmo will check in again soon, friends! Elmo loves you.❤️

Today we honor and remember the life of our friend, Harry Belafonte. Take a moment with us to reflect and honor his legacy and enjoy this Sesame Street classic.
Our new

For caregivers, it can be hard to help little ones understand and cope with the effects of violence, but limiting media exposure and making space for them to express big feelings are good places to start.
In 1976 the Pointer Sisters recorded the now iconic "Pinball Number Count" song. Sesame Workshop celebrates the life and legacy of Anita Pointer. Thank you Anita Pointer for helping us learn our 123s and dedicating your life to creating inspiring and uplifting music. 💛
After an incident of community violence, children (and adults) need to be reminded they are safe and loved. By limiting media exposure & making space for big feelings, caregivers can create a safe space. 💛

It's okay to have questions about COVID-19 vaccines for children! Elmo's dad Louie talked to their pediatrician, and learned that Elmo getting vaccinated is the best way to keep him and his whole neighborhood safe and healthy!

Sesame Workshop mourns the passing of Tony Bennett, who brought joy and music to millions of people around the world. Mr. Bennett joined us on Sesame Street in 1998 to turn a classic of his into a new favorite of ours.
Big Bird may have just received his COVID-19 vaccine, but as many of you pointed out, he was learning how to keep himself and his neighbors healthy long before that! Watch as Dr. Marzullo teaches

about vaccines and administers his measles shot back in 1972.

US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg stood for justice & equality. She stood for what Sesame Street stands for, equal opportunity for all. Today we mourn her loss & honor her impact on the lives she endlessly fought for. Our thoughts & prayers are with her family. ♥️
It all began in 1969 on a street where colorful Muppets and humans lived -- and learned -- side by side. Today, 50 years later, we are excited to announce a yearlong anniversary celebration to mark the occasion! Learn more:
