It was suggested by Matt Cooper on his podcast with Ivan Yates that we should end Presidential elections and instead automatically appoint the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to the role. He was quite serious about this. @john_mcguirk @GL_Kavanagh @Nick_Delehanty .

Unfortunately there is no policy on how to grow a political spine. You either see the imperative to act and do so or you retreat to the comfort blanket of 'complexity.' If you didn't have a spine before entering politics, its vanishingly unlikely you will find one post entry.

The voters are having a moment, but I fear no lessons will be learned. No course change will occur. Our politics is almost irredeemably solipsistic. This election will be the subject of PhD's/internal party reviews. Thats it. The beatings will continue until morale improves.
