On February 14th 2008, Leo Varadkar said that "very quick" immigration into Ireland had caused "difficulties" in "criminal justice" and "integration.". He added: "It's important that where people are looking to attribute blame, they blame the right people. the government."

Look I'm no expert but I'm not sure the scenes of massed Gardai forcing asylum applicants into a recently closed hotel in Roscrea over the objections of locals bodes well for Government candidates in the region in the upcoming local and EU elections.

It's not so long since we were being assured weekly that these protests were just the same "far right" people travelling from town to town. Take a look at the demographics in this video: All ages, normal people, opposed to something happening in their town.

The Israeli state is closing its embassy in Dublin, and withdrawing all diplomats, on foot of the "extreme" position of the Irish Government. A significant step which will garner attention around the world.

Apparently Deputies Coppinger and Murphy are now into minute 27 of a press conference denouncing Gript Media. I do hope other Media outlets know that this is a preview of life under PbP: Toe the line or be denounced as wrongthinkers. We'll wear it as a badge of honour.

Gript Media's editorial on the events of last night, in full:. In Newtownmountkennedy, the State has crossed the rubicon. At about six minutes into this video footage from events in Newtownmountkennedy last night, April 25th, a man can be seen walking slowly towards the advancing.

Please be patient with the Gript site at the moment, it's not really built for tens of thousands of people logging on all at once. We're adding all the resources we can.

It's absolutely bananas to me that the Irish hate speech bill is getting more critical scrutiny from overseas commentators and news outlets than it is from the Irish media or the Irish opposition. What are you for? What's the point of you?.

Niall Boylan has a reasonable case to argue that by omitting him from the TV debate, our overlords in RTE have swung yet another criticial election.

Had the misfortune of listening to half an hour of Pat Kenny on the US election. There's no other word for it other than outright propaganda. If the BAI had any standards that show would be raked over the coals.

I'm retweeting this only to make the point that the Irish Times assigned a reporter to cover this event. That reporter, who I'm sure is a fine fellow, stood and watched these people go past him, and estimated the crowd at about 300 people.

Nobody would say parents with a child aren't a family just because they're not married. Yet that's what our Constitution says. On March 8th, you have the opportunity to change that by voting #YesYes.

If this incident had been directed at any other minority group - gay people, travellers, etc - or if it had been committed by anti migrant protestors against Africans, the airwaves would be clogged with politicians seeking their go at condemnation. We all know it.

Hey Ireland. You know those Israeli tourists who were publicly abused and spat on - and then abandoned by the police?. Have any of your top officials condemned this yet? The Irish PM? Ministers? . Or do they just not care because the victims were Jews?. Asking for a friend.

Claire Byrne is paid €250,000 per year to ask questions of politicians on behalf of the public. She had the Taoiseach for half an hour this morning and not once did she ask him a single question on behalf of people whose businesses have been closed for 15 months.

A woman in Roscrea says she no longer feels safe in her town because of an influx of single men she doesn't know, the media treats her with skepticism. A Taoiseach with 24/7 security gets a threat online, the media treats it as the end of civilisation. There's an inequity.

@john_mcguirk Humbug and sophistry. You equate threats to the elected head of government, his wife and children with anxiety in some communities about migrants. Shameful, just shameful. You should delete.

Misinformation, confusion, Miriam O'Callaghan's taxi driver told her he didn't understand it. This isn't news. It's not public service broadcasting. It's an establishment cope circle. You're a mug if you pay these people a cent.
