ETFs aren't common in 401(k)s for several reasons (tax efficiency is irrelevant, no fractional shares, legacy plumbing built for mutual funds). I can't see crypto ETFs gaining meaningful access to retirement plans in current form.

Thematic ETFs haven't added value for investors in the past 5 years. Just 20% of US/EMEA thematic ETFs beat a broad market index, and the avg underperformed it by 8.5% annually. Thanks to @SteveJohnson000 and the FT for highlighting this research!
