Hey @SmartLess I see you have John K on the show this week. Does that mean you’ll talk about Emily Blunt the whole time? He’s all you talked about during her interview. #timetoaddawomantoyourinterviewteam

"Why dyslexia and not just call it a learning disability? Be aware of such innocuous sounding, but essentially uninformative and unhelpful terms as learning differences and learning disability. A dyslexic individual learns little from this kind of label." Dr. Sally Shaywitz

Being Black on a roadtrip is one of the eeriest things ever. We can see 400 years of trauma in one road trip. Like… the cotton fields are still here. Acres of cotton. And you just know. You pass certain trees and just feel sick. You cross certain town lines and just get scared.

What if we shifted the focus this year from “Curriculum Night” or “Meet the Teacher Night” to Meet the Family night? Think of the messaging that sends to your community. Think about the possibilities for centring parent voice. #theschoolsweneed

Important reminder: please do not say that someone is not “restorative” when they advocate, confront, and address inequity. Social justice is restorative justice. Fragility, passive aggression, and defensiveness are not restorative, and are often rooted in racism.

The education system must create transformational schools. We need more social workers, psychologists, counsellors, (especially representing the communities they serve) and lower class sizes. None of these will happen making schools impossible for ALL students to thrive.
