Elementary history shouldn’t be random. It should be coherent. Chronological. Present multiple perspectives. And above all, content-rich. #HistoryMatters

“Adopting a new curriculum is a promising first step, but it’s only that: a first step. Real change is like training for a marathon. Buying the right gear doesn’t improve your endurance. Success comes from commitment, coaching, time, and diligent, deliberate practice.”.

New at "The Next 30 Years" Substack, an insightful guest post from @mcglynn3 on schools that need "Balanced Literacy Rehab." They think they're doing the science of reading, but old, bad habits die hard.

NAILED it! Reality for many teachers. It’s okay to be a passionate teacher and have expertise in the SoR that is beyond your administration. Both sides need to recognize this. Trying to work as a partnership is key. #TikTok

A wonderful article about embracing the research and letting go of the idealogies that monopolize Education. How do we get our district leaders to make the same change? @MrsAWiater . Beyond belief: Reframing teaching as a science-based profession

Far too often educators are told to motivate students through games, flashy lessons & flashy group projects. However, IMO careful sequencing of lessons & providing scaffolds so that all students can succeed are the most crucial things you can do for student motivation.

The more I read of this book, the stronger I believe this is a MUST read for all teachers (especially coaches)! Easy to apply ideas of explicit instruction that will strengthen procedures, instruction and learning in all classrooms! Just Tell Them @MrZachG
