I’m. Obsessed. This text should be in every teacher’s hand. Quick, direct, explicit…so good. Thank you @MrZachG 🤗

As teachers prepare for back to school, now is the perfect time to brush up on ONE of the many strands of the reading process! I have updated my Reading Rope of Resources to align with each strand of Scarborough’s Reading Rope (2001), acting as a visual reminder that there is

Elementary history shouldn’t be random. It should be coherent. Chronological. Present multiple perspectives. And above all, content-rich. #HistoryMatters

I will continue to shout this from the rooftops: it all comes down to providing our Ss w/ knowledge! It is VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE to teach critical thinking skills w/o KNOWLEDGE This book is gold. Thank you @natwexler for sharing your expertise 💗 @SoRclassroom @KnowledgeMatrs

Using our #morphemes to help us accurately spell words. English is morphing-phonemic, so as teachers we must BOTH instruct at the phoneme level AND morpheme level. @UFLiteracy @goyenfoundation @SoRclassroom

Edit: just a reminder that teaching can be messy and isn’t perfect! I feel like I have a decent handle on incorporating morphology but still forget what morphemes I’ve taught and the cards I have 🤪 Don’t expect perfection out of the gate. Your kids will still benefit!

That moment when your students ASK you to teach them a new morpheme 🤗 Changing my teaching to reflect the science of reading was the single BEST decision I have ever made as an educator 💗 @goyenfoundation @SoRclassroom

Eng. is morphophonemic: a mix of sound and meaning. LOVED listening to @literacypodcast with @EideDenise 💗 I incorporate some form of morphology/etymology into lessons. Ex: want to know why Wednesday actually follows an etymological pattern!? @goyenfoundation @SoRclassroom
