Finally, LD targeting of PNPLA3 I148M is required to promote steatosis in vivo. Overall, data suggest a critical role for PNPLA3 I148M - LD localization to sequester ABHD5 and promote steatosis.

Targeting of ABHD5 to LDs is also required to promote the interaction with PNPLA3. So both proteins need to be on LD!.

Lipid droplet targeting of PNPLA3 I148M is also required to sequester ABHD5 away from ATGL (aka PNPLA2).

We show that lipid droplet (LD) targeting of PNPLA3 I148M is required for the interaction with lipase co-activator ABHD5 (aka CGI-58).

Our JBC paper is now online! Here we examine the mechanisms by which a common genetic variant in PNPLA3 (148M) causes fatty liver disease and builds upon our previous work on the interaction of PNPLA3 with ABHD5.

The storage and release of triacylglycerol (TAG) in lipid droplets (LDs) is regulated by dynamic protein interactions. α/β Hydrolase domain-containing protein 5 (ABHD5; also known as CGI-58) is a...

Our paper is now online! Here we investigate the direct effect of lipolysis on AMPK signaling in adipocytes. Using our real-time FRET sensor we show lipolysis genereates long-chain acyl-CoAs that are involved in allosteric activation of AMPK.#lipidtime.

Interesting new work showing serotonin as a suppressor of human BAT. The authors propose this may explain weight gain associated with SSRIs. The serotonin transporter sustains human brown adipose tissue thermogenesis | Nature Metabolism

New works shows that ABHD5 (CGI58) controls placental lipid metabolism indepdent of ATGL (PNPLA2). ABHD5 also interacts with PNPLA9 adding to the list of PNPLA binding partners. JCI Insight - The lipase cofactor CGI58 controls placental lipolysis
