The sub-Saharan African region imported $2.1billion worth of horticultural crops in 2020. This means that Tanzania stands a better chance to feed the region, owing to its competitive advantage on horticulture production and its proximity to the trading bloc!

Uganda and Tanzania sugar trade is a win-win deal! Kampala secures market within EAC and Dar cushions its sugar deficit. Simplified of cross-border trade regime, removal of NTBs could certainly breath a new life into intra- EAC trade which is 20% against SADC-46% and EU-67%
