The latest US literacy stats have just dropped and they are every bit as grim as you might imagine. "Approximately 50% of Americans read so poorly that they are unable to perform simple tasks such as reading prescription drug labels"

So many educators complain to me that kids lack “stamina” for reading, but the kids never read anything longer than a textbook chapter or anthology short story.

Let's make this the new universal book challenge policy: Parents have every right to restrict what their own children are allowed to read. They have zero right to make those decisions for anyone else's kids. Ever.
