Waterhemp locations in NYS

It's almost time to start collecting tall waterhemp seeds for herbicide resistance screening in NYS. I was out checking waterhemp seed today. @cornellweedsci @LynnSosnoskie @CornellIPM

This is only the 2nd farm in Lewis County NY with a known tall waterhemp population. Early detection of resistant weed populations provides an opportunity to contain & minimize the spread to additional acres across the farm operation.

For 25 yrs as a field crops extension specialist in NNY, I saw the introduction & widespread adoption of these biocontrol nematodes on farms for the control of alfalfa snout beetle & later on learned the addition of corn rootworm control. This isn't snake oil, these really work.

High soybean aphid populations found in Northern NY today. Scouting season isn't over yet, continue to monitor soybeans for SBA through the R5 growth stage. I did not see any beneficial predators feeding on the aphids. @NYSIPM
