New paper in Nature Comms @NatureComms !. If you're interested in serotonin and its influence on human behaviour, you may enjoy our new paper. We use a now-available method to increase brain serotonin that differs from conventional methods (e.g., SSRIs).

A big thank you to the editorial team and peer reviewers who took the time to help us develop and improve beyond the preprint. And, of course, to the titans of the field who inspired this work at Cambridge, KCL and UCL.

We also observed that increasing serotonin has a positive effect on verbal working memory and delayed recall. #memory #serotonin

Beyond this, we found that increased serotonin made people better able to control behaviour. This effect was amplified when aversive/negative emotional information was present. #impulsivity #inhibition #DDM

We found that directly increasing brain serotonin decreased sensitivity to aversive learning outcomes (RL), without statistically significant effects on reward learning. These findings tell a different story than what we've seen with SSRIs. #ReinforcementLearning #RL #SSRIs
