Only the most credulous readers are surprised by this. Good storyteller, but Sacks' cases more often than not had a whiff of the Too-Good-To-Be-True variety of bullshit.

A towering figure. Occupies a similar space that David Lynch does in mind; a visionary who can't be pinned down. His music was grim and antisocial, but hilarious. His production style brutal and businesslike, yet warm. He was famously antagonistic, but also kind-hearted. RIP.
Steve Albini, one of the pivotal figures of the American underground, is dead at the age of 61. Whether it's through his own music with Big Black and Shellac or recordings he made with Pixies and Nirvana, it's difficult to imagine indie-rock without him.
