I was pretty popular in college, mostly through good fortune: my freshman dorm room was huge and got used as a hangout spot, and I attached myself to a couple guys who had friends literally everywhere (because they were wonderful & engaged). Also, I’m very lovable in person.

These are such bullshit made-up examples lmao. When I was in college, the “popular” kids were anyone who was gregarious and had a lot of interests and got out a lot. As far as I can tell it had very little correlation with being rich or even hot.

Imagine if a midlist rightwing influencer just posted “Biden is dead. He died on Wednesday.” How would his followers take it? Either they’d all get agitated and confused and turn to Grok for succor, or we’d have six “8/27 truther” Congressmen in the 2029 Congress, or both.

The difference you’re actually noticing is that the left is capable of processing these things with irony and sophistication. Republicans have bicameral minds so when they fantasize about Hillary Clinton already being dead, they permanently convince themselves it really happened.
