Police don’t police? Foot patrol on an allocated beat was de rigueur last century but value of it wasn’t recordable. PCs on street at 6am + would regularly monitor criminals’ movements, checking houses & vehicles. They’d learn about rat runs & deal with residents’ concerns. Gone.
