Islington Council was going to build 18 new homes on a patch of concrete. NIMBY campaigners said it would block their view of fireworks and cause knife crime. Islington council caved. No new houses.

I have explored space.
I have explored time.
Now… I explore distortion. Yes. You read that correctly.
I am releasing a HEAVY METAL album. Thirty-five metal virtuosos. Thunderous guitars. Chaos with purpose.

You’re probably too young to remember the days when F1 cars didn’t even all need to have the same number of wheels.

I suspect there’s a huge crowd from the US Midwest around 2005 who might say “as we didn’t get a race, then either make your car safe or park it” I would concur.

I have worked in Electric Vehicles for nearly 15 years. It’s the undeniable solution to mass personal transportation emissions. For the love of God @fia drop the electric sportkilling stuff and run @F1 on synthetic fuel and V10s. There is room for this.

With fuel duty revenues expected to decline, the Government announced at the last Budget that it is exploring options to introduce eVED, a pay-per-mile charge for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. At the same time, a major review of public charging is underway.

Decisions like this have left us with some of the world's highest energy bills. The National Grid plans to spend £288 million removing 10 pylons from Eryri National Park, paid for by increasing bills. That's more than 2x the combined annual budget of all 15 national parks!

You might have seen the story a couple of weeks back about an EV that caught fire in Derbyshire It wasn't just the flames which spread - the misinformation did too, with some entirely made up claims appearing in the local press Here are the details... 🧵

Creativity can get you to places which logic can't. Useful to entrepreneurs, who want this. Highly unappealing to box-tickers, whose jobs depend more on the defensibility of decisions than the quality of the outcome.

As you may have heard, “The Thing” has been added to the Library of Congress. We made the movie to push against the edges of what we could pull off, and it carries that strain in its bones. Seeing it now treated with the same care and reverence we had making it means a great deal

I’m generally of the opinion that the UK has basically lost the ability to build anything above ground quickly and/or cost effectively, but always good to be reminded of contra examples. Isle of Dogs June 2009 vs this afternoon.

NEW ANALYSIS: UK household electricity bills have risen over the last 5 years. BUT: Despite frequent claims that net zero is to blame: 2/3 of the increase is because of high gas prices shows new @UKERCHQ report. Without renewable energy the UK would see even higher bills today.

I don’t object to a graduate tax. I object to a one-way intergenerational transfer where graduates fund triple-locked pensions, universal winter fuel payments and a homeowner veto on housing & infrastructure as well as overregulation driving up the cost of living for us all.

Rachel Reeves should be very careful arguing only graduates should pay for their degrees Would be a lot of cold pensioners without our generation’s taxes. I don’t make much use of the nuclear deterrent either Education is a public good, not a commodity

January is wrecking more travel plans. Today main problems are: railways of southwest England and western Channel ferries. Disruption at Amsterdam Schiphol due to a military exercise involving F-35 fighters practising "operating safely at a civil airport". https://t.co/iNSCmHaXpw
