Super excited and proud of my @ASPECTS_quantum partners for their latest work published today in Nature Physics I spent most of my PhD thinking about autonomous quantum refrigerators in theory, so it’s amazing to see one put to practical use at last!.

🚨new paper🚨 out today! We use the same kind of artificial intelligence model that underpins ChatGPT for quantum feedback control! Many thanks to my coauthors Florian Marquadt, @NAresgroup and especially Pranav Vaidhyanathan for the hard work! .

Thanks to my wonderful co-authors @p_strasberg @QuSysTCD @modikk for their patience with this project over the last ~4 years 😳and @royalsociety @IrishResearch for financial support! Also check out related recent work by @Archak_physics @Quantum_GiaGuar
This paper highlights the difference between thermalization in Open Quantum Systems (OQS) and Isolated Quantum Systems (IQS). It matured like fine wine over the years! Two authors were postdocs when it started, and now about a year into faculty positions!

Of course we are not the first to think about this – e.g. Srednicki was musing on the connection between Markovianity and ETH in the 90s – but we hope this provides a more solid foundation for open-systems theory and helps connect with modern ETH research.

We consider many-body quantum systems that exhibit quantum chaos, in the sense that the observables of interest act on energy eigenstates like banded random matrices. We study the time-dependent...
