My take is that the intensity of excitement, not the type of sport increases the risk of CV events. But TdF took place during the last part of the 2006 WC and during the control periods (-05 and -07), seemingly without increasing events i the Munich area https://t.co/KhqSqeWikO

A good day to recap this brilliant study from the 2006 World Cup🇩🇪: Viewing a stressful soccer match more than doubles the risk of an acute cardiovascular event. Enjoy the matches and stay healthy 🇮🇹🇨🇭🇩🇪🇩🇰 @TUMSportMedizin @c_verdicchio https://t.co/KhqSqeVKvg

Great presentation by NEXAF PhD-candidate @KristofferRJ89 at the #ESCPrev2024 Atrial Fibrillation associated with ⬆️ mortality in endurance athletes. But absolute risk much lower compared to non-athletes. ➡️ Management of CV risk factors important in athletes with AF

Should we use ILRs for Atrial fibrillation screening post-stroke? I will say NO - until we have more evidence. Check out our paper on the topic @AfibNo @Tidsskriftet @ForGeriatri @GuriHagberg @ECSandset @HegeIhleHansen @drjohnm @SZDiederichsen

Older male endurance athletes are at a slightly higher risk of atrial flimmer, and hence stroke. However, they have a lower mortality than their untrained cohort. This study from the Norwegian Birkebeiner Aging Study, BIAS
