Interesting, I wonder how having a supportive PI/ lab environment that actually nurtures postdocs and having a lab that is well funded play into these hit publications? #science #academia #phdchat #phdforum #postdoclife

Top 4 things to know about doing science: 1. You need to have someone you can talk to 2. One-on-one discussions are the best 3. Think about discussions as improvisations and use the ‘yes, and’ rule 4. Create a safe space so both of you feel open to saying seemingly silly things

I was today 35 years old when I found out that fabric shavers existed. Am I seriously the only one that took out her scissors and cut off the lint/pill/fuzz? What does this make me? My mind is blown #mindblow #IFeelOld

If academia wants to compete for the best postdocs they are going to have to raise salaries and better support postdocs with kids, otherwise the academic path will continue to be available only to people with generational wealth or partners who make huge salaries.

A postdoc with a newborn just told me daycare in Boston is ~$30,000/year 🤯 Despite having dual incomes, the cost is so prohibitive they are considering just going into industry... I wish there was a mechanism similar to the NIH Diversity Supplement to help parents with new borns

Hoarding talent backfires. Managers who fail to promote people wind up with weaker teams. Study of 96k job applications: Bosses who advanced their employees attracted more & better internal candidates for open positions. People gravitate to leaders who invest in their growth.
