@musical_ipseity @BossCatholic @conan_esq I redefine terminology because I'm the Language Autist and am compelled to rectify names and stand in judgement over the dictionaries and vocabularies of men. Do not misunderstand.

This is one of the most historically significant anime ever. Even if you've never heard of it you've seen it referenced and probably didn't even know it. But there is no way to watch it in English. Its too long for fansubbers and too old for official distributors but I can dream.
68 episodes of the legendary baseball anime Kyojin No Hoshi aka Star Of The Giants are subbed in English. I've seen 3 eps & the translation is legible; hope it remains consistent. The manga was written by Kajiwara Ikki who wrote Tiger Mask, Ashita No Joe & Karate Baka Ichidai.

There was a period of time where they were pumping out Star Wars paperbacks like you wouldn’t believe, effectively carrying the torch for the pulp novels and silver age serialized media that inspired them. People were just writing anything. It was awesome.

A person learning English as a second language just asked me the difference between “burned” and “burnt” — and I just stared blankly back with a 404 error screen running through my brain.

This series is the secret toddler discipline hack. They're the Best Behavior series and they have them for an assortment of the most common difficult toddler behaviors. You would be SHOCKED by how well reading these works to prevent and correct bad habits in toddlers.

As you said 2 year olds are discovering they’re not the same thing as mom or dad, they’re their own person. Part of this discovery is realizing they can do something that is the opposite of what mom and dad want. They push until they find a boundary then they push a bit past
Imagine thinking you're a good parent because you did this to a 2 yr old, a child still essentially a baby who is only just realising he is not the same person as Mum, all because he dropped a carrot. Toddlers are traumatised by the withdrawal of normal expectations. What a cunt

📚 current read: fluent forever - gabriel wyner ❛❛there is no such thing as a “hard” language; any idiot can speak whatever language his parents spoke when he was a child.❜❜ #booktwt

I am once again asking ppl to watch the youth oriented propaganda historical documentary by Mango TV called "China" it's free on YouTube and comes with English subtitles. Including the sparks note of Kublai Khan & Phagpa Lama ("Ba-si-ba") CPC wants to present to Chinese youth
Rise of Tibetan Buddhism under Mongol patronage is a really underexplored phenomenon. Imagine a Quebecois warlord invading and uniting all North America, then learning about Mormonism and deciding to make this isolated mountain religion the official imperial cult for a century

this is unironically excellent advice, if your baby is having a bad trip just sing a nonsense song that matches their tone and mood and then resolves into something joyful so that they can follow you there setting up their environment helps too
The key to babies is that they are more easily communicated with if you conceive of yourself as a shaman guiding someone on a lot of psychedelics— you can just hum a tune/mantra at them & their internal discord becomes overrides by the melody.

Those "disappeared" ancient ethnic groups never actually went extinct. They simply changed their identity. In reality they have always live right there.

Xuanzang’s list has 5: Secrets Words with many meanings Words for things that don’t exist in China Words traditionally transliterated Words that inspire respect and righteousness.
There are certain things you should never change when translating, especially if you have matching audio: 1 - Names 2 - Loan words which retain the original meaning Yeah. Short list. Should be easy to remember. So why do so many screw up both?!

Throwback to when MTV used files from the Revenge of the Sith game to make Anakin Skywalker sing ‘Take Me Out’ by Franz Ferdinand to a crowd of Clone Troopers. And yes, it actually aired on live TV back in 2005. Growing up with the Star Wars Prequels remains unmatched.

It’s amazing how consistent Kentaro Miura was with this guy’s facial features. There’s only two inconsistencies here.
