Fun fact: Hells Kitchen started uploading season 3 in HD widescreen today. While the season has 12 contestants the widescreen versions of the episodes reveal a 13th named JR who is never acknowledged anywhere in the series and was removed from several wide shots/group shots.

The theory is he threatened to blackmail another contestant and was removed from the show before the first dinner service. The group shots were most likely restaged while the scenes of him on the sides were ignored because they knew the show would air in 4:3.
Garland was a huge proponent of the Civil Rights movement. She was 15 when she did blackface. Children in Hollywood at this time were forced to perform against their wills, worked illegal hours, were beaten and molested and this drove Garland to the drugs and alcohol killed her.
The North American erasure of Masami Kurumada (minus Mexico) is insane! Like, I joke about people who only know anime they grew up with but to see it on display to such a degree from such a large account is massively frustrating!
YYH paved the way for deeper storytelling in Shounen battle series, in part by introducing Shoujo Elements to the formula. It set a new standard for character development, created many Novel character archetypes, and set a bar that STILL hasn’t been cleared for Tournament Arcs
@popeyeotaku
Whatever he did it seems Fox made the cast sign an NDA because they've had contestants try to start fights or leave on the first day due to health issues and they were not scrubbed from the show in this manner.
Daft Punk's Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem will be screened publicly for the first time in North America this summer.
The 4K remastered version will debut at New York City's Tribeca Festival, which will take place from June 5th to 18th, 2024.

The voice of Ruby said this at an anime convention (she was also sailor Mars) she said she hated voicing Ruby because all she said all session was “Max no”
I love how everyone who agreed that you should just call anime by their English-translated titles had to immediately add some caveat because they realized they don't follow their own rule.
Every cartoon reviewer on youtube will tell you "Phineas and Ferb and Gravity Falls Rules" but can't bring themself to engage with a Ralph Bakshi movie with any level of maturity beyond going "what were they smoking when they made this?"
They don't know what any of these shows are. Ask anyone with a JJK avatar what Chibi Maruko Chan is and they'll be fucking clueless and think it's super obscure. American fans are the worst metric for gauging anime awareness.
Kinda crazy to think Firefighter Daigo is still popping off like this in Japan, outperforming some of the biggest anime in history, and mainstream English fans don’t even know what it is.
Thinking about how many people in the early 2000s watched the Chrono Crusade anime thinking it was related to Chrono Trigger. In their defense, the logo is a bit egregious (and spelled wrong lol).
Once again reminding people Sentai speed runs their dubbing process for quick turnarounds, hires mostly inexperienced actors to keep costs low, and often only allows their talent a single take when recording again to get the dubbing done as quickly and cheaply as possible.
A lot of people ask that, but it doesn't really matter, the point is it reveals this widespread western misconception that that mecha anime is "stupid emotionless action." Popular titles manage to avoid this stigma because...well, those people have seen them.
The "introducing shoujo elements to the formula" is what really gets my blood boiling literally the thing Kurumada is most known for and the reason so many shoujo artist cite Saint Seiya as an influence. (these are all male characters just so Geoff is aware).
Turned this off around the 2 minute mark, "I would never recommend my viewers an anime TV series from the 70s that wasn't Lupin III"...glad you like Lupin, but my blood pressure is high enough today.
Just throwing it out there that Beerus from Dragonball super was almost localized as Bills because Funimation didn’t get the pun until a fan explained it to them. So yeah the industry is out of sync...a lot.
Im uploading the subbed version of the Kikaider 01 Re: Edition tonight. If you weren't aware the version Bandai dubbed and even aired on Adult Swim had poor/unfinished animation. This was corrected with a JP-only release. I've retimed the subs to fit the updated animation.
The person who started the recent “you can’t judge the subs if you can’t speak Japanese” discourse having “ADR director” and “Dallas Texas” in their bio is outstanding environmental storytelling.
I made a list of 7 anime any anime fan MUST watch and this is one of them. Not only is the film beautifully animated but its a great introduction to Japanese mythology that will help better understand tons of other Japanese works just by watching it.
"The Little Prince and the Eight Headed Dragon" movie (1963) is on Youtube (english dub, 4/3).

Macross/Robotech was the first big change, at least in America. 70s Gundam does have character development but the Gundam is a main character and almost every episode hangs on beating the big-bad of the week. It's better than Tranzor Z/mazinger but still a mech show.
Chainsaw Man isn't the most original or even the weirdest story in a manga, but it's still leagues ahead of anything in American comics. Happy to see every art teacher that said "don't draw manga style" in tears as they prepare for the 10th reboot of the same superhero this year.
Crazy amount of Dragonball and Shonen Jump misinformation being spread in these last few days and people are reluctant to correct them because it sucks to "umm actually" someone praising a creator who died.
The bureau director at MBS was furious with Toei when he saw episode 7 of Kamen Rider ended with Takeshi Hongo playing with puppies because it wasn't something a cool superhero would do. Not to sound paranoid but that sounds like something Shocker would say.
The comments on Gigguk are interesting, glad to see people actually be like "why did you cover Garzey's Wing and not mention its a spin-off of Dunbine" even though we know the answer is that he doesn't know what Dunbine is.

@Sally_Amaki
, the original Japanese AND English dub voice of Carol in Tomo-chan is a Girl!
She is one of the very few if not one of the only Japanese CVs ever to also voice the same anime character in an English dub!
@polarnas_u
I just want people to stop pretending they know Japanese and just call it Poltergeist Report. It was the preferred name for almost 10 years and actually makes sense to people who speak English.
@KhakiBlueSocks
He was a graphic designer for the Conan o'brien show that was a big anime fan, hence the bumper with Conan's face on the Gundam mk II. He had several segments where Conan brought him on to vent his frustrations and a few of them were about anime.
I distinctly remember a version of School Rumble where Akira’s gun was painted red. Not sure if it was a tv rip from Japan that was fansubbed or a rip of the version that aired on Funimation’s cable channel.
G-Witch continues to capture that classic mecha feel even to the point of having to do a recap episode after only a few episodes due to production issues.
Just so it's clear, I don't find the Ghost Stories dub offensive and don't think it should be scrubbed from existence, my issue is the misconception that the original version is of low quality and did poorly in Japan. THAT is what needs to be wiped from existence.
It’s crazy how many anime rumors from the 2000s were ADV just lying to people. This sailor moon episode wasn’t included because the creator hated it, Ghost Stories flopped in Japan, Robin Williams put the Evangelion reference in ONE hour Photo…all rumors started by ADV.
It's shocking to me how often American critics simply ignore any context on foreign art.
Machado de Assis is THE most famous writer in Brazil's history, this book is mandatory reading in high school and university entrance exams... but the dude calls it "long forgotten by most".
