Our schools are NOT indoctrinating anyone. Parents have always had access to curriculum, school libraries, and what their children are taught. When will you sign any bills to fully fund public schools for Texas kids? Not a great start and there is more work to be done.
Our schools are for education, NOT indoctrination. Parents deserve access to curriculum, school libraries, and what their children are taught. Today, I signed four bills to deliver on that promise. A great start, but there is more work to be done.

Same same 29 years experience in Texas public schools. 7 different schools in 5 different districts. Nothing but pure patriotism is being taught in our schools. They have to lie to push their agenda. Must be a really really bad agenda. Never vouchers Vouchers = scam
13 years of teaching…. 4 school districts, 4 different cities/towns . Never…. Not a single time have I heard a teacher or heard a student talk about being taught to hate this country. #ScareTactics 🤡 🤡 🤡

Public education is a Texas value. When you ask voters straight up if they support siphoning public dollars for private school vouchers, the answer is overwhelmingly NO! Keep public dollars in public schools.
Texans overwhelmingly reject school vouchers and ESAs. Polling shows strong opposition across the state. Opposition grows when voters learn vouchers could raise taxes, close neighborhood schools, or cut teacher pay. Texans want strong public schools that serve every child, not a

Idk about yall, but $12 million donations usually come with “favors, guarantees or some kind of returns” attached. Why would an out of state billionaire give the Texas governor $12 million…. #FollowTheMoney
An out-of-state billionaire gave Greg Abbott $12 million to pass a private school voucher scam. I'm joining my colleagues in requesting Mr. Jeff Yass testify before the Public Education Committee. Texans deserve to know who's behind this scam.

Thank you @jamestalarico for pointing out that #txlege has not had 6 hearings/sessions about teacher pay, about mental health services, about student behavior BUT we have had 6 hearings/sessions on vouchers!

Texas teachers need to be paid more than lip service. TX teachers are paid $10k below natl average. No educator should have to choose between rent & groceries or work extra jobs to get by. Hear from @AustinISD "Teacher of the Year" Megan Vasquez:

Rep. @GinaForAustin: This voucher scam is "a billion dollars that could go to a $3,000, $4,000 pay raise for teachers." Why should Texans be expected to fund private school tuition for millionaires and billionaires when our neighborhood schools are in crisis? #txlege

Texans are more united in our opposition to vouchers than any other policy issue in years.
No matter how they try to spin it, skew numbers, fabricate lies, spread falsehood it appears that an overwhelming majority of people do not want vouchers. Makes you wonder why lobbyists, donors & bought off politicians who don’t represent their constituents are fighting for?

The argument is whatever they need to destroy public education.
Did you know Education Code Sec. 29.201. PARENTAL CHOICE already exists? And has since 1995? Allows transfers from low-performing schools to higher-performing schools inside or outside of district. No need for vouchers—if low-performing schools is the argument. #txlege 1/

Col Allen West is a consistent voice of conservatism. I didn't know where he stood on the so-called "school choice" bills SB2/HB3 until we attended a debate in Dallas last week. Good point here... the bills would create something quite different than what R Plank 84 calls for.
From Chairman @AllenWest's #MondayMessage: I do not think we have a very clear understanding of what "#SchoolChoice" means. https://t.co/O3HFvGZLWg

Texas ranks in the bottom 5th nationally in school funding. So why on Earth is Abbott and the #TxLege considering giving out the richest private school vouchers in the US? And offering only to add a $220 pittance to public schools? That won’t even cover inflation. #txed
Texas must lead the way in education. To make that happen, we must pass school choice this session. Every family deserves to choose the school that’s best for their child. Read my op-ed on why Texas must make school choice a reality this session:

What we’ve been saying all along. “School Choice” is a SCAM!
Don’t Oklahoma my Texas: Again wealthier families primarily benefit from school vouchers. Oklahoma’s median family income is around $60,000, but 65% of its vouchers went to families making over $75,000. And no lower income family data is even being tracked #txed #txlege

Ha! All of these accomplishments are in spite of the fact that Texas public schools are funded at 47th in the Nation. 47th! Forty Seventh! FORTY SEVENTH!!! What a travesty. This is an embarrassment. This is our governor. This is not leadership.
Under Governor @GregAbbott_TX's leadership, Texas is a national leader in education. 🎓Over 90% public high school graduation rate 🎓Over 88% Hispanic graduation rate 🎓Over 86% Black graduation rate This session, we'll ensure Texas continues to lead in education! #txlege

Public Service Announcement: Because the TX school funding bill is separate from the taxpayer-funded voucher bill, legislators don’t have to vote for vouchers to get money for schools. Thank you.

Oklahoma’s voucher scam is already creating a two-tiered education system, and if Greg Abbott gets his way, it will happen in Texas as well. We beat vouchers before. We’ll beat them again. #txlege
