My take: We must resist the backlash against EDI in medicine in Canada. #CanMEDS @TheConversation

De-centring medical expertise means fostering skillsets that reduce disparities in health outcomes. Medical expertise alone is great for those with social privilege, but not enough for the rest.

The latest health data is astounding. The average hospital visit for a patient surviving homelessness is ~17,000. The average cost for supportive housing per month is $3,500. Housing for all is a matter of human dignity and sound economics.

Primary care should be a legislated right. That >6.5 million people in Canada go without it is antithetical to the values people hold dear and the promise of Medicare Thanks @janephilpott for this terrific op-ed. I can’t wait to read your book! https://t.co/4XlJkbN64J

A beautiful soul in tragic circumstances. This 12-year-old child is supporting his fellow humans in their time of greatest need. Surrounded by unimaginable trauma. May there be peace.
12-year-old Zakaria es-Sersek is a volunteer medic at Gaza's Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. Inspired by seeing medical staff work around the clock, he now assists doctors with newly-developed skills ⤵️

Hospitals are where the most vulnerable, the sick and injured, gather in times of war. They are not a target.
