Stories entertain, but real life is much richer, messier, and more nuanced. Enjoy the journey, not just the destination.

Good vs. evil: There’s no absolute good or bad. People aren’t heroes or villains, perspective changes everything. Someone’s angel is another’s devil. Don’t judge people based on a single interaction; real life is full of complexity

The ā€˜main character’ illusion: We all want to be special, to shine, to win it all. But in reality, everyone is the main character of their own story. No one is just a sidekick. Everyone has depth, struggles, and significance in their own way.

Happy vs. sad endings: Life isn’t a story with a clear ending. It’s a cycle of winning and losing. The same event can be a happy ending for one and a tragedy for another. Unlike movies, life doesn’t wrap up neatly, there’s no permanent happiness or suffering, just constant change

When I have a new fellow or resident in our peripheral nerve clinic, I always teach them the importance of defining the neuropathy clinical syndrome. NCS/EMG are valuable, but the neurological exam is the most important (as it should be in neurology but many have forgotten).
