Best career advice I ever received - "If you'd like to pursue academic medicine, make sure its because you can't imagine doing anything else. " - Indeed, I am trapped by my compulsion to ask and answer questions through research in the service of my patients~.
So universities make research professors pay for their entire salary & research through grant funding, but then the university also takes a cut of your grant funding? Seems like you’d have to always apply for grants, so when do you do research? Is this why you’re all kinda grumpy.
