Straight up, the prep for a colonoscopy process stinks the most. Most folks now can prep for their colonoscopy using just over the counter drugs, and your favorite sports drink. But trust me, you’ll want to plan to be close to a restroom for the day.

Intermountain Health has taken steps to make sure getting a colonoscopy is easier than ever. If you don’t have any specific concerns and you’re over the age of 45, you don’t need a referral. Just fill out this request:

Now if you have some symptoms, or a family history of cancer or polyps, your doctor may want you to get a screening earlier or more frequently. Check with them. But for most people, 45 is the new golden age.
