Dr. Korthagen emphasizes the importance of meaning-oriented reflection (focused on deeper understandings of the educational process) v. action-oriented reflection (what can I do differently?). Meaning-oriented reflection leads to deeper, lasting change #CCTEVirtual20

High-need schools and programs often have the highest special educator turnover rates, making it impossible to close both the quality staff & student achievement gaps. Tell Congress to invest in a pipeline of teachers at https://t.co/gd3T3N9sSZ #SELS2020 #4SpecialEducation

Underprepared teachers leave the field at twice the rate of those who are fully prepared. High quality teacher preparation improves retention rates! #4SpecialEducation @SELS2020

I support education funding legislation that matches the needs of children and youth with disabilities and/or gifts and talents, their families, and the educators who work on their behalf. Let Congress know that you do too at https://t.co/tsSx1qFi1e. #SELS2020 #4SpecialEducation

This is inclusion. This is equity. This requires "education" to understand the role of systemic marginalization by accepting a status quo. Individuals in the system must, therefore, understand their responsibility to take action as change agents. @CADeptEd @WrightNowCA

Excited about joining #LurieSchool Dean's Advisory Board! Transformative work happening in Teacher Ed! Thought for the day, “The teacher is of course an artist...What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become themselves” #PauloFreire

I don’t think IDEA has ever been fully implemented. It’s a capacity issue. How can we do what needs to be done when people are “certified” as special educators with NO preparation? Without the expert workforce, we are sunk. Let’s build our capacity, not waive the law.
