Amy Coney Barret has been on bench for only three years. She’s already had colleagues accuse her of not following Brown v. Board AND Griggs v. Duke Power which held policies adversely impacting people of color constitute discrimination. Breathtaking record for a SCOTUS nominee.

Just a reminder: Amy Coney Barrett would never have become an appellate judge if GOP Senate had confirmed President Obama's nominee Myra Selby, a Black woman, to Indiana seat on 7th Circuit in 2016. But GOP blocked Selby, kept seat open & Trump filled it w/Barrett. #CourtPacking

Did you know Amy Coney Barrett is sitting in a stolen judicial seat right now? In May 2017, Trump nominated Barrett to IN seat on Seventh Circuit, which covers Indiana, Illinois & Wisconsin. This is same seat to which President Obama nominated Myra Selby, a Black woman, in 2016.

Could Texas be any more intentional? Houston voters elect 19 Black women to judgeships. GOP then introduces bill to replace judicial elections w/governor-appointed judges. Kicker: Bill would end elections only in counties w/500,000+ people, targeting urban areas like Houston.

Judges have uniformly rejected the Trump team's claims of voter fraud and found the campaign's legal work amateurish.

@BGrueskin It’s not just years of massive resistance to Brown by state & local officials & large segments of public. More than 60 years after Brown v Board ruling, many of Trump’s judicial nominees refused to acknowledge Brown was correctly decided. They are sitting in lifetime seats today.

Spending your entire career devoted to civil rights—in Kristen’s case, 21 years—ought to be supreme qualification for serving as nation’s top civil rights enforcement officer. But some GOP senators view this as a flaw. They just don’t want our civil rights laws enforced. Period.

Clarke, a longtime champion of civil rights, is President Joe Biden‘s pick to serve as Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice and, if confirmed, would be the first Black woman in history to serve in the role.

Absolutely shameful. Joe Manchin is voting against a nominee who has spent his entire legal career defending our democracy.

Manchin plans to vote no on Ho, I’m told, which means @VP could be hauled in for tiebreaker vote unless there are absences (Tuberville was with Trump yesterday, for example) Harris is nearing the all-time record for tiebreaking votes by vice presidents

9th Trump judicial nominee rated UNFIT TO SERVE. This is what the lawyers & judges who know him best had to say about him: ❌arrogant ❌lazy ❌ideologue ❌entitlement temperament ❌lacks humility ❌not open-minded ❌unfair to LGBTQ ppl ❌refused to say he'd be fair to litigants

This can only get worse for Graham: Only 38% of South Carolina voters have a favorable view of Graham, with 53% viewing him unfavorably. His numbers are even lower among Independents, with a mere 28% viewing him favorably and 60% with unfavorable views.

. @SenatorRomney on @NAACP Town Hall: 90% of people in Utah vote by mail. All states would be wise to put into place a program like this. Hate to see long lines in minority areas. If state officials are putting up w/this, there needs to be oversight. They’re denying right to vote.

This should be easy, Alabama. Rename Jeff Davis Avenue in Montgomery, AL in honor of Fred Gray, the legendary civil rights lawyer who began his incredible civil rights career representing Rosa Parks at age 24. This is long overdue.

Trump has now appointed 18 judges to district court & appellate seats in Texas. Over one-tenth of Trump’s judges sit in Texas, which already had courts extremely hostile to civil rights. If we don’t pay attention now, our rights will be jeopardized for decades. #ProtectOurCourts
