Imagine being told you have 3 weeks before starting your new job to find a place to live - in a city or town you've never been to before. It's unreasonable. It's unacceptable. It's unfair.
Hundreds of UK final year medical students have been told by their foundation schools that they could only get three weeks notice of what hospital and city they will start working in.....🧵

Great to know that our regulator will allow behaviours ranging from committing sexual assault to spreading harmful misinformation about vaccines, but to speak out about the climate crisis, the greatest threat to human health, is where @gmcuk draws the line.

Dissertation with this tagline coming soon - watch this space !!
More claims being made for cold water immersion on local radio. Note, the definitive science hasn't been done, the evidence is anecdotal and it is potentially dangerous. By all means do it, but understand the risks & benefits & proceed with caution.

Medical school culture will suggest a weekend spent with my brother 3 weeks before exams is a terrible idea, but one thing I’ve learnt at medical school it’s that I won’t spend my life putting exams before the people I care about. There’s so much more to life than studying.

Mind-boggling advice from NICE - to use injections of sterile water for pain relief for labouring women. One of the studies cited seriously has sterile water as its active arm &, er, salty water as placebo😳 (ref below). *When* will my profession take women's pain seriously?
Shame on you @NICEComms. Agreeing that healthcare professionals can offer pseudoscientific pain relief to women in labour is nothing short of a scandal. Shame on you. New NICE intrapartum guidelines https://t.co/Bd3GN222zi 1/

A lot of hard work by @sophhmacdonald on an analysis of the access to PHEM critical care across the UK - since the last review in 2012 there still remains geographical and diurnal variation #PHEM #HEMS

I did a medical degree in 3 years 7 months. Here's why I think 4 year medical degrees as standard is a truly AWFUL idea.

Nobody should lose their life due to lack of access to equipment. That’s why we’ve committed to supplying 18,000 state-funded schools with a life-saving defibrillator. Today, every secondary school in England has this vital equipment.
Today marks a milestone moment in our roll-out of life saving defibrillators. As part of a £19 million plan, all eligible secondary schools now have a defibrillator and all state-funded schools requiring one, will receive one by the end of the academic year.
