The cost-of-living continues to have a huge impact across the country, particularly for those experiencing domestic abuse. I wanted to take the opportunity to remind people of how to access Leeway’s support and remind everyone to continue to look out for loved ones.

40 years ago today I left my home with a carrier bag of clothes and my 11 month old son and moved into a Refuge. It was the turning point from victim to survivor.

The Family Courts are often used by perpetrators as an avenue to continue their campaign of abuse. I hope that we see more measures to support those experiencing domestic abuse to navigate this process.

The risks that perpetrators pose must be fully understood, especially when it comes to child contact which is often used by perpetrators as a way to continue their campaign of abuse. We must ensure we are protecting children from unsafe contact.
