The government has announced new changes coming into force from July that could offer victim-survivors of domestic abuse better access to social housing. The changes will see local connection requirements for victim-survivors fleeing abuse scrapped, ensuring they do not face.

The government’s decision not to cut current claimants’ disability support is welcome, but not enough. Disabled women are nearly twice as likely to face economic abuse. Cutting disability benefits for future claims risks trapping them with abusers. The government must reverse.
