Ms. McNamara literally didn’t even reach out to interview a primary person whose allegations about MB are in the AG doc, but presented his ex-wife’s “not a JD” claims as credible. She’s made claims before where they both testified & a judge dismissed her case as not credible.

Why is a law firm not the best option for both parties when there are allegations of clergy sexual abuse? According to the ABA's Rules of Professional Responsibility, Lawyers are not allowed to represent both parties if there is an inherent conflict.

No, an attorney hired to act in capacity as an attorney has a duty to their client and takes instruction from their client. You can lose your license if you don't fulfill those duties, at least an employee can get another job. The attorney would have to get a new profession.

Please note, they brought in GRACE to investigate Brad Tebbutt and didn't like the results, refused to release the report and didn't follow any of the recommendations. It is not surprising now that they refuse to involve a similar organization altogether.

It’s possible he loaned his car sometimes but I’ve been there when he drove over for a visit and required us to have the door open and space for him. And it was explained to me that was his regular requirement when visiting. So loaning definitely doesn’t explain all instances.

IHOPKC has referred to them as a 3rd party investigator which implies they are an organization like GRACE, but that is a purposeful mischaracterization. It's a national law firm, bound to serve its clients. Not the neutral 3rd party that the advocacy group has been asking for.

I'm located in the SF Bay area and work in tech. I literally can't even begin to explain this Jerry Springer show to my secular acquaintances 😆 But also, the handling of this situation would just confirm to many unbelievers that the church is as awful as they think it is. 😢

The party that has resisted the biblical process is IHOPKC/MB. They were asked to meet and confronted many times. Shouldn't they be setting the example? Multiple women claiming misconduct and they refuse to investigate it. Some behavior they've known about for years.

You say we need an independent 3rd party investigation but an independent 3rd party investigator has not been engaged, a defense attorney has. When you commit to working with a true independent 3rd party, the advocate group will feel safe to cooperate.

Yes, there are organizations founded exactly for this sort of purpose. To come in as neutral 3rd parties, investigate, assess truth and then put forward their recommendations on moving forward. IHOP has privately stated they will not use such an organization.

IHOPKC wouldn't agree to that b/c that attorney would have a duty to its client. Lawyers are not neutral but adversarial and cannot represent the interests of both parties. A neutral 3rd party would NOT be ANY law firm but an organization with a mission similar to GRACE.

He actually doesn’t even deny sexual relations in his emails to Doe's husband. Only denies saying Diane was going to die and he was going to marry someone else- which multiple women have claimed he said to them.

It’s possible for someone to be groomed and not recognize they’re being groomed and therefore not believe themselves to be a victim. There are those that have been groomed that are even right now protecting him.

1/For Jane Doe it was the late 90s, so there's far less digital evidence and it was a long time ago- companies don't keep records that long. Try to get your bank statements from 20 years ago. Also, if she was not paying for stuff- he was- SHE doesn't have access to receipts.

1/I’m not saying that- I’m an attorney- the federal rules of evidence spends more time on testimony than any other type of evidence. I’m simply saying it IS evidence. I didn’t say it’s always true. All evidence must be evaluated, whatever kind it is.
