After an interesting writing process, the review process was a breeze for this paper! Pre-copyediting version available below. Read about the genes we think could be interesting to urban evo people using coyotes as an example @E_Carlen @Wild___Summer .

Want snow depth? @CatherineMBreen used GPUs to do the heavy lifting so you can fine-tune her nifty model with CPUs
We just released the model to extract snow depth from snow pole images! 🥳Paper: https://t.co/7OMD3dgvPL . Big big thank you to my fellow coauthors @LauraPrugh, Carrie Vuyovich @space_potato, Ryan Currier @wcurrier, & Zhongqi Miao, as well as @NASAGoddard @cv4ecology

100% agree with @taaltree on this. How can universities make students from both conservative and progressive backgrounds feel welcome? This is a big challenge we need to address and DEI initiatives ignore this aspect of diversity completely
I am barely seeing my university or others recognize the mess that we've created by taking what should be a venue for nonpartisan critical thinking and turning it into a hyper politicized echo chamber. Can we please address this already!

#WAPredatorPreyProject research in the @SpokesmanReview! Study: Food availability more important than predators for white-tailed deer in northeast Washington (and predators are important too!)

White-tailed deer in northeast Washington live in a world shaped by two competing limitations – predators and the availability of food.

This paper could have been an entire dissertation! Excellent thread by @TRGanz here. One of the most interesting findings to me was that mesopredator suppression by wolves and cougars did not indirectly benefit deer (via less fawn predation) in this human-impacted system.
Happy and proud to share that the last paper from my dissertation, “White-tailed deer population dynamics in a multi-predator landscape shaped by humans,” is published in @ESAApplications 🦌🐺🌲👩🌾 Reach out if you’d like a copy, and follow along for a 🧵 https://t.co/GH9WKqY2jD

This paper shines a light on a very thorny issue: outdoor recreation has many benefits, but negative impacts on wildlife can be strong. How can we strike the right balance?

Great work led by @SamanthaKreling showing fine-scale genetic structuring of Seattle's coyotes. Stay tuned to find out what they're eating!
Second Dissertation chapter published! We found that Interstate-5 and the Washington Ship Canal acted as strong barriers to coyote gene flow in Seattle, Washington using STRUCTURE and private alleles. Congrats all! @LauraPrugh @RLongEco @UrbanSchell
