Our response to the challenge "show me an example of pure socialism working anywhere" is "show me an example of pure capitalism working anywhere." We tried it in America and got the Gilded Age and Great Depression. Pure capitalism doesn't work. It's time to try something new.

I frankly do not understand why Republicans seem to hate providing health care to the American people.

Look at this picture. When you’re looking at this photo, you’re looking at a mirror. This is America. This is Texas. This is our the course of action, the one we chose. I cannot and will not accept it. #EndFamilySeparation& #AbolishICE & #ReuniteFamilies & Stop #BackersOfHate
This is El Paso right now, where hundreds of migrant families are being held in the parking lot of a Border Patrol station because there is no room for them inside, or anywhere else.

Workplaces in capitalist society are modeled after plantations: People who do nothing (a privileged minority) constantly telling people who do everything (the working majority) to do more. Modern slave revolts (workers uniting & defeating our overseers) are the only way out.

This system is anti-family. It’s that simple. It’s that immoral. #utpol
THREAD: Let’s talk about how awesome private insurance is. My doctor called me last week to let me know my insurer had declined to pay the bill for my last appointment, because they claimed I had a second health insurance provider. (Spoiler alert: I don’t)

Some people rise to the challenges we face. Others ignore them, or worse: pretend that sex can solve them. #utpol
The solution to climate change is not this unserious resolution, but the serious business of human flourishing – the solution to so many of our problems, at all times and in all places: fall in love, get married, and have some kids. https://t.co/N2gYdJFldt

“Instead of asking how to pay for it, we’re asking why the wealthiest country in the world shouldn’t have the best universal healthcare system for all?”

Early American socialists like Eugene Debs fought for free speech rights as a bulwark against state tyranny and employer despotism. We should take up their radical struggle for civil liberties today.

It's been almost six months since Amazon raised its minimum wage to $15. Why hasn't @Walmart, owned by the richest family in America, also started paying all their employees a living wage of $15 an hour?

No community has faced more discrimination in this country than African Americans. That’s why we need to form a commission that studies the legacy of slavery and structural inequality to come up with solutions that account for these grave injustices.

Capitalism began in England around the 16th century. They immediately went on to colonize half the planet in search of new markets, committed multiple genocides, traded slaves, and engaged in constant war. In school we learn about how communism is evil because of a famine.

The question we face as a nation: Will we continue to allow private health insurance companies to profit off of human suffering? Or will we end that disgrace and make health care a right through Medicare for All?

Why are we as society prioritizing the sick and afflicted last? Shouldn’t we protect the family first? #utpol
The American healthcare system is in a real national emergency: 🚨 66.5% of bankruptcies are due to medical costs 🚨 44% skip doctors visits due to cost 🚨 42% of cancer patients drain their entire life savings within two years 🚨 29% skip or ration medication due to cost.

Why didn't Boeing do it right? Why isn't FB protecting user passwords? Why is Phillip Morris allowed to promote vaping? Why hasn't Wells Fargo reformed itself? Why hasn't Monsanto (now Bayer) recalled its Roundup Weedkiller? Answer: Corporate greed coupled with inept regulators.

For every one billionaire in America there are about 70,000 people living in poverty. I don't think it's a radical idea to say that we should make sure our people's basic human rights are met before giving tax breaks to the richest 1%.
