1950-60s in India was a perplexing moment in the history of economic thought. Galbraith was the US Ambassador to India, Akerlof was writing Market for Lemons at ISI-Delhi, Sen was treating Econometrica like his personal blog, and Sam Bowles was studying at Delhi Public School.

The impact of video-podcasts on the body weight of substack 'generalists' needs to be studied. It started with Matty Yg on Rogan. And, here, Noah is halfway to becoming Sam Altman. AGI, or, AG-1. or GLP-1?.

New episode with @dwarkesh_sp and @Noahpinion on AGI and the economy. This is perhaps my favorite podcast conversation since joining a16z.

I am personally skeptical of AI and its associates, in terms of impact on productivity, but this is totally the right way to move the discussion forward. Look forward to reading the underlying academic article.

Think this is the caveat, or control, to that 1960-present chart Andreesson or one of those SiliconValley cyborgs was sharing about fertility last week.

Mild declines until the 1990s and then total collapse. Many reasons for 90s nostalgia aside from millennials missing their childhood. It was the last decade where Americans felt like they had a bright future to look forward to.

The guy has an unreal consistency, and let me be clear, he is a really gifted writer. I don't even care for econometrics but I read his newsletter like therapy.

What a behemoth of dedication this Scott Cunningham (mixtape econometrics guy) is. There might be 23 huge events around the world, and you still get a "here's how to do diff-in-diff when you don't even have numbers" post drop in your inbox without fail.
