An airline flies a plane without an air-worthiness certificate. A restaurant, built with wood at a site fire brigade cannot reach, lets off crackers for an indoor show. A private bus adds so many seats that the emergency exit is blocked. Criminal indifference/greed everywhere.

So this particular duopoly has let down customers, and employees, and embarrassed a regulator that doesn’t know how to deal with “Too Big to Discipline.” And yet, in sector after sector in India, economic concentration is on the rise. Expect similar results.
