the main goal of twitter is trying to make some sort of novel or interesting point about politics so that people look at your account and see that you normally just post like "wow, girls with guns. they should make more cartoons about this".

Seeing the British Museum again is a very exciting prospect but it's also just very nice to be in a hotel room and not thinking about work or anything which is making it hard for me to get out and head over.

It's funny to me that all the money still has Elizabeth on it. When is Charles getting phased in?.

@patrickc Analyzing the drivers of supporting Luigi Mangione supporters is illustrative - 14% for people over 30, 51% for under 30 - and more correlated with psychometric neuroticism/poor mental health than ideology. Similar age/psychometric trends appear when analyzing antisemitism!.

My favorite part about doing work that is computationally intense is when I get to go on twitter when something is running and I can say I'm working.

(non-sarcastically, this looks bad though I'm always a little skeptical of the FT data journalism, I just always want to joke about the big 5 personality trait factor endowment theories of politics).

Is this just an inequality story (America had a lot of smallholders, England had big country aristocrats) or some kind of Rogowski-esque story about trade orientation or something else entirely?.

Something I've never really seen discussed is that it's kind of weird that the proto-democratic and liberal tendencies in the early American republic were concentrated among agriculture while the financiers and industrialists were much less whiggish.

@mattyglesias It's simultaneously true Jefferson was a flawed thinker and person and that he was nonetheless far more progressive than Hamilton and the Federalists whom some modern liberals have tried to make their ideological ancestors instead.
