the main goal of twitter is trying to make some sort of novel or interesting point about politics so that people look at your account and see that you normally just post like "wow, girls with guns. they should make more cartoons about this".

Something I've never really seen discussed is that it's kind of weird that the proto-democratic and liberal tendencies in the early American republic were concentrated among agriculture while the financiers and industrialists were much less whiggish.
@mattyglesias It's simultaneously true Jefferson was a flawed thinker and person and that he was nonetheless far more progressive than Hamilton and the Federalists whom some modern liberals have tried to make their ideological ancestors instead.
