Former Chief of Staff to Governor Doug Ducey| Former Speaker of AZ House of Representatives| When I speak, I speak for me. No need to blame anyone else.
Let’s get in the way back machine, all the way to 2014. Candidate
@DougDucey
campaigned on “lowering the income tax to as near zero as possible”. The media and the spending lobby mocked his stance, attacking it as irresponsible and even impossible.
This ruling is another big win for our state’s taxpayers and it couldn’t have come at a better time. With inflation hitting Arizonans hard, this decision ultimately means more of their hard-earned dollars can stay in their wallets.
If you praise Putin in any way or justify the invasion even slightly, don’t act surprised if your motivations and loyalty are questioned. Giving comfort to a brutal dictator over a free people is more than a bad look, it’s morally bankrupt.
By preventing the audit of the AZ election, Gov Ducey allows the questions surrounding the election to remain under a cloud of skepticism.
And, I suspect that even President Reagan would have been inclined to join in the criticism of Gov
@dougducey

I believe in free speech&free association. I believe that wokeness and snowflakes who can’t handle contrary ideas are epidemic. I also believe that a Congressman who associates with vile racists begs the question.
#AZ
can do a lot better than Paul Gosar.
It is sad that this is the week we will see many Republicans reject conservatism in favor of faction by rejecting lawful state certified elections. The effect is like choosing King over Country, Crown over Constitution. 😞
#AZ
faces a lot of challenges AND opportunities. It’s pretty clear that a lot of our elected official’s are ill-equipped. Remember, support those who seek to support

, reject those that want to play games. We can do this

I was a young Speaker, she was a living legend, a titan. She included me on a civics project important to her. She was obviously brilliant and also distributed pearls of wisdom to me. But what I remember most was her kindness. The Great Recession, SB1070, lots of turmoil going
There is a Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski, and Susan Collins in all 50 state Capitols.
If you thought they only existed in Washington DC, you were fooling yourself.
Now Andy, put down the lemonade and rethink this. Nowhere has the word coercion been used. And this specific issue has already been addressed in the Executive Order, page 5 paragraph 3. I wonder if you read the order.
I’ve had the amazing opportunity to know many political leaders on both sides. None is more stand up honest than
@billgatesaz

@Scarpinato

*College freshman son working full time this summer, receives first paycheck: Him: These taxes are too high!!! Me: Welcome to the Republican Party, son.
The thing is we don’t have one national election. We have fifty state elections. States trying to impose on the sovereignty of another should be met with disdain the same as when the feds try it.

Less than an hour after its passage by the Arizona State Senate, Governor
@DougDucey
rushed to sign SB 1485, a devastating anti-voter bill which could remove over 125,000 voters--more than 30,000 of whom are Latino--from Arizona’s highly popular Permanent Early Voting List. (1/6)
If you are a Republican that signed up for these bogus objections to the electoral college now is the time to get your name off the objection. Your words lit this fire. This is your chance to save yourself, your dignity and your country.
Ahhh, team members recording the moment
@dougducey
signed the k12 budget bill early this morning. Long hours. Long night. Lots of hard work. Best. Team. Ever.

Things to know about
@Andy_Tobin
: He’s a loyal friend to all, accomplished leader, legislator, Speaker, agency director, and Commissioner. And, he was also the best Majority Whip in the history of mankind, IMO. Congrats Andy!
Few have had the impact that Jon Kyl has had on Arizona and the nation. And even fewer have the impact on young politicos like Kyl. I count myself as one of those who learned a lot from him.
#grateful
When Jon Kyl returned to the Senate in September, our country faced many critical issues. Arizona needed someone who could hit the ground running from day one and represent our state with experience and confidence – and that’s exactly what Senator Kyl has done. (1/3)

@speakerbowers
is a true conservative,one with the courage to stand against the political mob and stay true to his oath to defend the Constitution, even in the face of vicious personal attacks and harassment. As a constituent, he will have my vote once again.

Tonight I announced my resignation as mayor of
@GilbertYourTown
, effective immediately.
Thank you to those who put their trust in me to lead. You have been patient and generous, and I will always be grateful for this remarkable experience. 💛
More:
The echo chamber is real and more pronounced than ever (thanks, social media). Politicos and activists would do well to expand their friend circle to include people with different political views. It will make you better at your job.
As a very successful political leader once told me about politics, “We’re in the friend-making business”. Broad coalitions are winning coalitions. Telling any voters to “get the hell out” is a bad idea.
Lots to say about
@dougducey
State of the State..but these two issues stand out: The morality of people keeping more of what they make and empowering parents to choose the best education for their child. It’s the right thing, and he believes it to his core.

Good for
@azcapmedia
for asking the mayors direct questions. They are currently admitting that they are not enforcing the current mandates, don't intend to enforce a statewide mandate, and that it's all just PR. This is getting ridiculous.
The now infamous recorded phone call of this last weekend laid bare the cynicism at play. When the faction loyalists cry Election Fraud! what they really mean is Find Me More Votes! So. They. Can. Overturn. A. Lawful. Election. And that is neither Republican or conservative.
Couldn’t help but notice that some of you got a little antsy last night and one unnamed individual even attempted to start the hashtag. These infractions will be overlooked...
We filed our Historic Election Integrity case with the Arizona Supreme Court.

Feels like something else happened between then 🤔 Oh yes I remember! The biggest spending budget in state history was passed four months ago. I wonder if that had ANYTHING to do with this?
As the U.S. semiconductor industry continues to advance in the years ahead, Arizona will be the engine powering its growth. Celebrated the first piece of equipment added to one of the most technologically advanced chip factories in the world today at the

Shameful assumption by this reporter. Governor Ducey is aggressively kind and mid-western nice. I’d stake everything I know about him that he did no such thing. Delete the tweet. It’s wrong.
...So, the rules:
1. Don’t take yourself seriously
2. It’s ok to show off your inner nerd
3. Be bipartisan in your targets
4. Passive-aggressive insults only
5. Someone must work in a Carl Seel reference (I’ve got this one covered).

Frank Pratt was kind and respectful to all. A true gentleman who loved serving and solving problems for his constituents. He was my friend. Prayers for his family.

The Arizona House of Representatives mourns the loss of one of its most senior and beloved members. Representative Frank Pratt, husband, father, rancher, farmer, businessman, and legislator passed away today after a long illness.
Oh, this is rich. She already proved that Republican primary voters are fully capable of choosing the weakest general election candidate all on their own. No democrat votes needed.
The fact that an act of human compassion is treated with disgust says all you need to know about the trolls on this site. No better public servant than

It’s a few weeks early, but just to get everyone’s mind right, here’s a PRO TIP: Losing candidates call to concede to winning candidates because it’s the right thing to do and shows respect to voters and that NO ONE is bigger than our American system of governance.
It seems quaint but I like my Governor’s to know stuff. Very impressed with

I think this is referred to as, “to come full circle”. 10 yrs ago in 2009 the Great Recession produced worst state fiscal crisis ever. Record deficits/300k lost jobs/0 in rainy day fund. Today, this debt is paid off/budget surpluses/1B rainy day fund/booming economy.

I remember the feeling of awe meeting with Justice O’Connor in the Speaker’s Office just a few years after her retirement. She was kind and encouraging to a young Speaker. I’ll never forget her passion for civics. Nor will I forget how she made me feel inspired to serve.
Justice O’Connor’s beautiful letter to Americans is a reminder of the incredible life of public service she has devoted to our nation — & the history she has blazed. Our prayers & our hearts are with Justice O’Connor & her family. Read my full statement:
Here’s a story of two state employees that needs to be told. One was an agency director, the other his deputy. Where he was bureaucratic, she was dynamic, smart, and a leader.
Anyone else notice it? Rush hour traffic slowly creeping back up. That means jobs and economic activity. I’ll never complain again about the parking lot that is the morning west-bound 202.
Remarkable lack of pearl clutching from press and columnist crowd about record busting outside and dark money spent on

Dem candidates this cycle. I’m sure it’s because they found religion on the First Amendment 🙄
President Ronald Reagan's final speech was a love letter to immigrants:
'Anybody from any corner of the world can come to America to live and become an American. We draw our people, our strength, from every country and every corner of the world.'

seems to have a tradition of U.S. Senators who occasionally make the extremes of their party really, really mad by not conforming. I’m here for it.
Two polls were released today in the

race. One by a political campaign consultant. The other by a nationally recognized pollster who has been polling in

This headline is ridiculous. This guy has no idea what happened in Arizona’s 2020 election because he covered his eyes, plugged his ears, probably opened his wallet and let election fraud happen on his watch.

There is no one in

“Now is the time to decide what the party is about.” My view; if you are about conspiracy, Q, election lies, factional loyalty, or if you coddle and indulge the same, then move along to another party and the dust bin of history. Let’s get on with it.
The resiliency and stability of the

Good news on the budget front. Monthly revenues for September are not only exceeding JLBC's June projections by $146.1m, they're actually 0.5% higher than they were in September 2019.

That’s a pretty good filter to apply to the chorus of opinions and analysis.

I was once told to not pick fights with someone who buys ink by the barrel. But the demolition of the Arizona Republic credibility cries out to be called out. A thread…
I don’t normally tweet screenshot text messages. But in the name of transparency, I thought this was worth sharing. I received this from The Arizona Republic. Seems these stories are more like a coordinated vendetta than an honest “investigation,” but I’ll let you be the judge.
Rather than winning hearts and minds some want to build a wall around AZ. There once was a time when party leaders embraced investment, jobs, and wealth creation. Glad we still have leaders like
@dbseiden
who get it and do something about it everyday.
