FACT CHECK: Kemi Badenoch said "we are spending ALL our money on welfare". Welfare represents around 24% of Government expenditure. If you exclude the State Pension that drops to around 12%. Did Nick Robinson correct her? Don't be silly! #r4today @BBCr4today

Starmer is a highly intelligent, articulate, hard working, diplomatic PM. He's turning the country around for us. Johnson was a fat, lazy, lying, incompetent, corrupt, inarticulate, self interested buffoon who pretended to be PM. If he, or any Tory was PM right now God help us.

Hi @Ocado - my dad is elderly/frail/has dementia and he’s just told me that your delivery guy often unpacks his shopping for him, without being asked to. I don’t know if this is normal service for you, but I think it’s brilliant. I’d love for him to be recognised for it. 🥇

CNN put together a montage of Trump being vocally against regime change before he fell in love with it

That "one more dog sled" Denmark added in 2025 is in fact $4.2bn spent on buying an additional 16 F35s, two new Arctic ships, several maritime patrol planes, an additional early warning radar and a plethora of drone systems. That's remarkable for a nation of 6 million people.
Trump: You know what Denmark did recently to boost up security on Greenland? They added one more dog sled. It’s true. They thought that was a great move.

I am endlessly in awe of the sheer political and diplomatic naïveté of people who think the British Prime Minister should conduct the rhetoric of international relations as if he were some ranting bloke sitting in an attic on his Facebook account. Grow up.

I couldn’t agree less .. our government quite rightly are not going to start making accusations. It’s a fine balancing act and I would have hoped someone of your intelligence would have understood he will be carefully acting in diplomacy behind closed doors.. not on TV
Our government is embarrassingly craven. It makes our country look incredibly weak that our ministers come on air to speak to the nation in such mousey avoidant ways about what we all know. It’s a terrible look for our PM, govt and nation. https://t.co/iTvy6iKqmY

Maduro was a brutal ruler, it’s true. So is Putin—who Trump supports. So was Bolsonaro, who Trump supports. So was the drug-trafficking former head of Honduras, who Trump just pardoned. So is Nayib Bukele in El Salvador. MBS. Bibi. Stop pretending Trump cares about illegitimacy.

Trump suggests that if Venezuela resists handing over access to US oil companies, the US could conduct a larger attack. Wars usually have overlapping causes, but the idea that this was principally about drugs - the basis for the indictment & hence the attack - is nonsense.
Trump: "We're going to have our very large United States oil companies go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure and start making money for the country. And we are ready to stage a second and much larger attack if we need to do so."

Starmer can hardly condone what Trump has done in Venezuela, an afront to international law. But to condemn it on our own? Or find a nuanced middle way? The only feasible option is to align with the EU without having any inside voice or influence. Brexit is an unfolding debacle.

This post about the Primrose Hill closure has prompted a lot of reactions. We want to clarify a few points:
Primrose Hill will be closed on New Year’s Eve this year ⛔There will be fencing, security and a police presence to prevent access. If you had planned to head there to get a view of the central London fireworks, please make alternative arrangements.
