A while since I updated my personal blog/site, but here's an entry that talks about writing my new book on #ArtificialIntelligence, including how I worked with #AI on the final chapter. I hope "50 AI Ideas You Really Need to Know" lives up to its title.

At the end of 2023, I was approached by an editor working for Hachette to write a book about artificial intelligence. This was the first time I’d been asked to write a specific book rather than pit…

I've long worried how future governments will be able to pay for public services, and even things like universal basic income (UBI), when dominant global corporations avoid tax in many jurisdictions. Here's a novel approach to maintain the flow of money into treasury coffers.

"Save the foothill yellow-legged frogs!" . Here's a joyous example, if the opportunity arises, of how to beat the crazed environmentalist "vegetable lobby" at their own game. Sometimes you have to use their own weapons against them. #LFG🚀.
A State Department of Fish and Wildlife sends a letter to a home/landowner asking for permission to access a creek on his property to document the decline in a certain species of unheard of frogs. The property owners' response in the second letter is EPIC. Letter from Dept. Of

Once upon a time, in my growing up, the greatest show on TV was #Blakes7. Proper space opera, Humans taking their first steps, wading out into the cosmic ocean. Even today, I vividly recall the staggering, cliffhanger ending to Series 2. This looks amazing

Who could have imagined in the late 1960s/early 1970s that no one would have flown beyind low Earth orbit since 1972? That, in 2025, you would be able to count the number still alive who had, on just one hand. Jim Lovell was one of the greats and we mourn his passing, just as we.
We are saddened by the passing of Jim Lovell, commander of Apollo 13 and a four-time spaceflight veteran. Lovell's life and work inspired millions. His courage under pressure helped forge our path to the Moon and beyond—a journey that continues today.

V exciting to see the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) gas potentially observed a new gas giant exoplanet in our neighbouring Alpha Centauri solar system What's key is that planet would have potentially habitable moons! Straight out of the plot of Avatar.

The possible planet is just four-and-a-half light years away and may have moons that sustain life.

The race to the #Moon is well and truly happening in earnest now. Will America return first or will the impressive march of Chinese lunar exploration see them land taikonauts before US astronauts? At this stage, I wonder what defines the US critical path in terms of timing.
Wow. China just completed a tethered takeoff and landing test of their crewed Lanyue lunar lander prototype. The country is pushing to land astronauts on the Moon’s surface before 2030, and this successful test was a huge step forward. The completion of this landing and ascent

Today we remember #Hiroshima, 80 years on from the first atomic bomb being used in war. Such a weapon would nowadays just be the detonator for a much more powerful hydrogen bomb. I grew up terrified of nuclear war (I was that generation). But at least it.
