[Quoting because I can't reply - will delete if against etiquette] There was a commitment to "no new Discworld novels" by @rhipratchett. While this is technically only an animated feature, it does seem to run counter to the spirit of that commitment. cc: @terryandrob

Goodbye @miriam_cates, Perhaps you can now focus on addressing the low number of children being born as your stated highest political concern for the UK

Sounds like The @guardian reporters (city editor @Annaisaac and business correspondent @MrAlexLawson ) should have checked their facts with a nuclear physicist or a safety engineer. This chap's not impressed with the results of their year-long investigation:
🧵 I am not and never have been a Sellafield employee. But this poorly researched scare piece has riled me, and frankly personally insulted me in the process and I'll show how. First off, let's just be real - Sellafield is a big mess. Stupid practices 50 years ago caused that.

Half the members of the family next door are desperately trying to stop the rocket from taking off with the other half blaming all the neighbours for the price of rocket fuel while simultaneously trying to tell them all they should build their own rockets

Powerful reminder from @rhiannonlucyc that the victims of the 2000s lad culture that spawned and lionised Brand and his ilk were belittled then and are still belittled now by those who have chosen not to grow up
The 2000s lad culture that Russell Brand epitomised wasn’t funny then. It looks even more hideous with hindsight | Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett

I am delighted to finally release the news about the Royal Mail Discworld stamps! Celebrating 40 years since the publication of Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic. It was a delight and an honour to create the artwork for this special set 🐝💌📮 https://t.co/iL6bY5pBme

Remembering the first time I knowingly encountered the befuddling thing I would eventually know as MAGA. It was 2008, on Facebook. It was my old college buddy, Stove Minivan. (Names have been changed to mock the guilty.) (Link at the end of the thread to avoid throttling)

Bill Murray as a modern Shakespeare
In this weekend's @WSJ Review section: If you say Trump (or anybody) is "toast," you're using the word in a way that was pioneered by Bill Murray when he ad-libbed a line in "Ghostbusters" about blasting a shape-shifting supervillain. https://t.co/YaLipCqRLK

Functional (and especially financial) innumeracy is as much a contributor to lower living standards as functional illiteracy. Forcing 16-18 year olds to do more maths won't fix this.
While 29% correctly calculated what halving inflation would do to the price of bread in the example below, 38% thought it would lead to deflation.
