New paper out in @NatureCatalysis! We used a retrobiosynthesis approach to engineer PKSs for the production of new-to-nature valerolactam analogs. Later, we developed a strategy to polymerize these monomers to create novel nylon-5 derivatives. Check it out

Acyltransferase (AT) exchange enabled production of medium-branched-chain diols like 2-ethyl-1,3-hexanediol (insect repellent)! We optimized the system in Streptomyces, achieving 1 g/L titers. This scalable PKS-TR platform opens new possibilities for green chemical manufacturing!.
