Putting people into poverty and making them poorer has never successfully got people into work Let alone disabled people, many of whom want to work but face too much discrimination to even be able to get in to an office!

Currently on the phone trying to get cruise insurance and “she’s 82” should be a more appropriate response than it apparently is

This response by a transphobe shows why every woman should be worried about them. It’s not about protecting women’s rights. It’s about seeing women’s primary role as being childbirth.

If you can’t get 200 members to support you in a party where people often nominate those they won’t vote for just for better democracy, you really should evaluate if your values fit.

We, the Liberal Democrats only official women's group, wholeheartedly stand by the amazing Woman that Cllr Chris Northwood is. She is an inspiration to many within the party with her dedication to the party and her constituents. She is a very deserving winner.
The Express asked us about awarding the Patsy Carlton Prize to Cllr Chris Northwood. This is our response: "This prize acknowledged an exceptional woman in Cllr Chris Northwood. The message it sends to women members and voters is that the Liberal Democrats honour and value all

Amazing hearing my predecessor as Disability Chair discuss the importance of the international rights of women and girls with a special nod to the challenges disabled women and trans women face

It was an educational and lovely experience to discuss the importance of emergency care for those who lose teeth due to epileptic seizures and I look forward to see what work we can do as Lib Dems to support this important issue
Many thanks to @DentaidAndy @KatharineMacyLD @EddieCrouch @RhianSlaymaker @OllyGloverLD @ClarePelham @rankine for taking part in our Fix It For Free panel yesterday at #libdemconf. A compelling discussion with great insights from the audience. #HealthEquality #DentalCare

Love the state of the NHS - my GP just told me going private is my only option for my chronic pain, and that’s just to get to the point the surgeon will consider my treatment! Prevention is better than cure but the NHS can barely cope with cures on current their funding

It’s on Spotify audiobooks, and my favourite quote is “Stepping out side of this safety net requires first recognising it exists and then being brave enough to keep on swimming forward regardless” - an eloquent way to sum up much of the training I offer on diversity!

Just finished reading “Bitch: A Revolutionary Guide to Sex” by Lucy Cooke and its my first 10/10 read of 2025. Fun, engaging and incredibly educational, it explores how the patriarchy has impacted our understanding of biology and evolution and I’d thoroughly recommend it!

Why does woke matter? Honestly seeing disabled actors in Dr Who and seeing disabled people included in the fictional future is so special somehow. Sometimes their disability is relevant sometimes incidental and I appreciate both because it’s never “for inspiration” or “in spite”

I had a phenomenal time last week representing the UK on the AI & Digital Track and as Head of Delegation at the youth G7. It was a huge privilege to meet and learn from so many of my peers across the G7 countries.

Remember we can’t just ask women to stand, we need to remove the barriers that keep women from engaging at the same level as men. Or this will continue. Do better and tackle misogyny in politics
🚨 Just 27% of those elected in the local elections were women 🚨 That’s not good enough. We need equal voices at every table where decisions are made 🙋♀️🗳️ This is the time to keeping pushing for progress—#SignUpToStand and help close the gap! 💪

Because this is also far more simple for people to understand why it costs me more and that it isn’t fair. I haven’t bothered exploring the neurodivergent tax or mental health tax, because most people simply aren’t ready to accept there is a reason these are called disabilities

Before the ignorant and illiterate jump on with deliberate misunderstanding I’m not saying I should get free money to fly first class or I shouldn’t need to pay for any travel etc. I’m just pointing out how much money goes towards being disabled, and how easy some could be offset

A short list of things I often need to pay more for now I have a physical disability Despite this, I’m lucky to be in a comfortable job so I can afford a life. I’m able to go up stairs etc., even if it’s painful. I shouldn’t have to hide away because I can’t do things cheaply

I have written to the First Minister urging the Scottish Government to hear from all those affected by the Supreme Court ruling when planning how to implement it.
