Love this. Some of my favourite moments are always of athletes from other countries.
My story of Olympic spirit from Athletics on Saturday. I sat by a lovely man from Australia. He kept pulling out new flags from his bag & waving them. I asked him about it, “I bring the 9 smallest nations flags with me as they won’t have many people in the stands” 🥹 #Paris2024

@tes @CharteredColl I’ve put a lot of thought and research into causes of ‘excludable behaviour’, including working in a Young Offenders’ Institute (see below). I’m happy to help unpick, but the current issues stem from outside education imo.

Good blog for those thinking how to address conspiracy-style thinking and fake news via the school curriculum.

Finding events really hard, like most people, but those people are not ‘protesters’. ✖️Protesters ✅ Rioters ✅ Looters ✅ Arsonists ✅ Attempted murderers ✅ Terrorists

Is it the perceived results of implementation? E.g. CPD for basketball I get 15 new drills, more knowledge of rules, basic tactics. This is then EASY for me to deliver, so impact is very quick and noticeable. Most behaviour CPD doesn’t work in the same way.
When it comes to CPD, teachers usually pick subject over behaviour management. But we all know behaviour is increasingly tricky. What does this tell us about the experiences teachers have of behaviour management CPD? Results on @teachertapp by checking https://t.co/yGHrDqjsJP

I believe there are lots of educators who want to have the tough, nuanced, complex conversations around behaviour. It’s just hard to be heard on this platform.

Lots of talk about Labour’s intentions concerning behaviour in schools (due to article of conjecture). 1. We aren’t the priority for this government 2. Their only levers are funding, Ofsted and restructuring. 3. Of these, I think Ofsted most likely.

Interesting thread, where we discuss alternatives to internal exclusion practices. I encourage you to read it and weigh the strength of the arguments in their own merit
@Dr_Pam_Jarvis @YorksBylines @BylineTimes What do you meanby a unit with a school counsellor? Like a room? Away from other students? With a member of staff? That sounds like what we and most other schools have?

I should mention that's the highest for state-funded secondary schools, so doesn't include alternative provision.
