Some say that being a physician-scientist is like wearing two hats. I think it lets me #sockittokidneydisease in two different ways. One foot is in the clinic, helping patients get the best treatments. The other is in the lab, trying to make those treatments better.

And all the secondary outcomes are in favor of SGLT2i! .Is this a huge enough trial to prove this is 100% effective? No, we’re still going to wait for renal lifecycles. But is it strong data that Sglt2s don’t accelerate progression and might help? .Yes! #flozinate #kidneywk.

Included patients with GFR 10-30, and loss of >2.5 ml/min per year, randomized 2:1. Also included low protein diet as part of standard of care in both groups .Followed total eGFR slope as primary outcome.#kidneywk.How much acute cr rise did they allow before stopping the sglt2?.

@Nester1Carla @KatherineTuttl8 @FreelyFiltered @VladoPerkovic @brendonneuen This figure will always make me smile; semaglutide saves kidneys. Subgroup analyses show no heterogeneity by GFR or albuminuria. #kidneywk
