Paper ballots are counted by machines that require certification themselves; there is zero difference in using a machine to cast a vote vs to count a vote in terms of potential vulnerability.
Better ID of voters would solve a lot of problems.

I've never had to draw, but it's been close; nonverbal communication (eye contact) got the message across, things de-escalated quickly. If forced to draw, it's bc I cannot escape. Never use a weapon as an idle threat.
