Today would have been Benjamin Zephaniah's 66th birthday. A man of integrity who spoke truth to power. So sorely missed.

Never underestimate the power of good people around you…your tribe, your cheerleaders when you down, your coach when you’re on the ropes, your confidant when you feel vulnerable. Love these people. Appreciate these people. Return the favour.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve put down my ‘tools’ and attended some external events in Birmingham, London & Manchester. I’ve forgotten how important it is to step away from the day to day and tune into the frequency of change around you. If you have done it lately, do it!

I appreciate all of these Windrush commemorations, events and all. Yet, I find myself thinking about how paradoxical it is for all these councils and organisations to be pouring all this money into these events, when apparently only 12.8% of claimants have been reimbursed.

We can often major on leading change, but talk less so about the internal change that’s leading us…I don’t think we can do the former well without a real engagement and reflection on what’s happening on the inside.
